This range light at Snug Harbour on Georgian Bay helps guide boats through the treacherous shoals that dot the Bay to a safe course into the harbour. The light was built in 1893 and has been in service since. By day it's a handy reference for those who know the Bay, but by night or for people who don't know the area, it's been a critical navigation aid for a very long time. The extremely stormy skies that day turned a so-so, familiar shot available on most days into one that does the importance and function of this aid justice.
